Journey moves on to the next phase...

I was just picking up on my recitals & there comes a break in the journey due to family commitments, travel to the US....

I think this was a welcome break coz, I now realized that I need to take up dancing full time & quit my career as an IT professional. Promising career of 6 1/2 yrs now takes a back seat & the break makes me realize that dance is not only my passion, but a way of life.

Thus begins the next phase of my journey as I step into the vast & wonderful world of dance, to learn each day, enhance my knowledge, perform, spread the art form in whatever way I can...

Hope this next phase in my journey through dance is very satisfying & help me attain a level where I learn to live & enjoy through it.

I know it is a challenge, but, happy to take it forward with all the needed support from my dearest husband & yes, my little fellow, my son who is 19 months old. This little one gives me a lot of energy & encouragement through various expressions & actions...Thank you both :)

Turned into passion...

Though I started my journey at the age of 9, Bharatanatyam was still a hobby, a after school activity. Academics taking priority, dance took a back seat. I still continued my training under Guru Smt. sharadamani Shekar for a decade & gave quite a few performances.

Having completed my engineering, got into a software programmers job in Bangalore. But, somewhere within me there was always an urge to continue my dance & this took me to my next Guru in this journey, Smt. Padmini Ramachandran of Natyapriya, Bangalore. Rigorous training under her, developed a passion in me & I continued my Bharatanatyam training with total dedication. By the end of 2 years of training with her, I was totally passionate about dance & thus begins the second phase of my journey, passionate me. Finally, 8th of Jan 2006 was the day when I did my Rangapravesha/Arangetram in Bangalore under the direction of Guru Padmini. An occasion to be cherished for ever.

Journey continued

I continued my journey & started performing as part of my teachers troupe & at school functions...A few snapshots.

First time on stage

First step into the vast world of dance. This was when I was in class 4 & just was enjoying what I was doing. A dance ballet, 'Parijatha Pushpa Harana', choreographed by my first Guru, Smt. Sharadamani Shekar. I am the one with green sari & pink dupatta.
